Event Space

Challenge:
How do you create physical boundaries in a large, open event space without airwalls?

Solution:
By using inflatable meeting structures.

Of the 100,000 sq. ft. of event space, everything was left open except for the general session room. The educational content was divided into four macro topics and the physical space was divided up to match these topics, which attendees could easily identify because each topic area had an assigned color. Large areas were kept open for coffee breaks, meals and general networking between and during sessions. There was also lounge seating throughout the space and even a puppy and kitten area because, well… puppies and kittens!

The inflatable structures provided by Created By Air, which come in different shapes, were used throughout the area. Cuberamic and panoramic inflatables created a more enclosed “meeting room” space. Curved walls made for a more open “classroom” setting. X-walls produced a smaller footprint which worked well for the demo-type sessions and a cube wall structure formed more of a backdrop. These structures required minimal electrical power to remain inflated and were color coded by means of up-lighting to help define the different content areas within the larger space.

Attendees were given a headset and a multi-channel wireless receiver, and each content-specific pavilion was on a dedicated channel. Attendees could roam freely from session area to session area and tune in via the channel posted for that particular zone. If a “room” was full, they could sit or stand nearby or even a little further away and still listen in.

Results:
The physical space was appealing and felt open and inviting. Rather than sectioning the space off with unsightly airwalls, the use of the inflatable structures made it possible for people to easily see others whether in sessions or on a break and increased networking substantially.
